On 13th, May of 2014, EU- China Environmental Sustainable Programme (ESP) - “Better Water Ecological Environment in Tianjin Binhai New Area with Less Pollution Discharge to the Rivers and Bohai Sea” project held the workshop and training courses on EU Water Policies, Technologies and Practices in Bai Yun hotel in Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA).
The training started in the morning of May 13th, Tuesday, hosted by Ms GAO Si from IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute Beijing Representative Office. Firstly, she expressed her welcome to everyone attended the meeting. Then it is a simple introduction of participants. Following is the introduction of the water resource status quo in TBNA given by Mr. BAO Jingling, the chief engineer of Tianjin Environmental Protection Bureau. Then Mr. Lu Xueqiang, vice director of TAES and also the team leader of the project, introduced the project briefly, including the basic description of the project and progress have been made. Based on Mr. Lu’s introduction, experts from IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute began the training presentation on “EU water environment management and implementation in Sweden”, “EU water monitoring experiences” and “Swedish pollution trading systems”. They were given by Mr. Staffan Filipsson, Ms. Katja Noren and Mr. Xu Min separately.
At 2:00 PM, the second parts began, hosted by Dr. Liu Honglei from TAES. This part focused on the EU surface water treatment technologies and practices. Firstly, Mr. Staffan Fillipsson introduced the “EU wastewater treatment and reclamation status quo”. Following was an introduction on “EU WWTP and reclaimed WTP operation and management experiences” given by Dr. Yang Jingjing, who is also from IVL.
During the training, Mr. Staffan also played two videos. By doing these, the participants could learn visually how German and France deal with the water resource management.
After each speech, there was a Q&A section, during which the speakers and the learners interact very well. And at the end of the seminar, the participants evaluated the training materials, discussion sections and logisticwork by filling questionnaires.
There were forth-eight participants attended the workshop and training courses. There were representatives from Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of MEP, Environmental Development Center of MEP, Tianjin Environmental Protection Bureau, TAES, Haihe River Water Conservancy Commission, Tanggu Drainage and Irrigation Management Office of Tianjin Binhai New Area (TDIMC), Environmental Protection and Urban Management Bureau of Tianjin Binhai New Area, Water Resource Bureau of Tianjin Binhai New Area, and also local companies representatives from Taida Veolia Water Co., Ltd, Konggang Water Co., Ltd, Shengtaicheng Water Investment and Construction Co. Ltd, New Water Source Co., Ltd, etc.
